Bridge over Capitol Way to close for repairs

Several people look at the underside of the pedestrian bridge stretching over Capitol Way
DES staff and project contractors review needed repairs to the pedestrian bridge over Capitol Way.

Travelers should detour to crosswalk near Tivoli Fountain.

The pedestrian bridge over Capitol Way connects the West Campus historic district with parking, office buildings, parks, and gardens on East Campus. The bridge opened in 1971.

DES is repairing corroded steel and deteriorating concrete parts of the bridge. A contactor will remove portions of the bridge, replace damaged materials, and apply a protective weather coating.

During the closure, please cross Capitol Way at the lighted crosswalk near Tivoli Fountain.

Two lanes along the five-lane street will also close. The entire roadway will close for short periods as well.
