Event at Korean War Memorial will include 21-gun salute

The Korean War memorial features three bronze statues of soldiers huddling around a fire, with 22 flags, representing each of the nations that joined the U.S in the war effort.

Rifle shots will be audible during the commemoration of the Korean War.

What:

Commemoration of the 76th Anniversary of the Korean War.

When:

11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 20.

Where:

East Campus Plaza area, at the Korean War Memorial.

Who:

Washington-Tacoma Korean American Association. Co-sponsored by the Korean Consulate of Seattle.

Impacts:

Audible gunshots, noon – 12:30 p.m.
Members of the U.S. Army Seventh Infantry Division will perform a 21-gun salute. Seven volleys of rifle fire will be heard. Guns contain blanks only.

Foot traffic:

Organizers expect a crowd of 300 people.
