Drilling near Capitol Lake finishes up next week

GeoTechnicians peform drilling for soil samples

Work will cause temporary closures in Heritage Park. Detours around the worksite will be in place.

Where: Heritage Park.

What's happening: Final stage of a geotechnical survey of the land around Capitol Lake that requires drilling into the ground to collect samples.

Impact: Large machinery, trucks, and crews will be visible near Heritage Park, and visitors can expect loud noise from the drilling. A portion of the pedestrian walking path will be closed, and pedestrians should follow the marked detour.

When: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. weekdays, beginning Monday, May 6 through Friday, May 10, and finishing work on Monday May 13.

Why: As part of the Deschutes Estuary Restoration Project, DES is conducting fieldwork to provide information on the makeup of the ground surrounding Capitol Lake. This information will support initial phases of bridge, roadway, and boardwalk development.

All work is weather dependent. The Washington State Department of Enterprise Services has contracted with FLOYD | SNIDER of Seattle, Washington for this effort.
