Governor's Mansion Tours

Governor's Mansion tours in October and November are currently open for reservations.

About the tour

This 30-minute tour leads you through a number of rooms in the mansion. You will be walking and standing and there are no public restrooms. The mansion is accessible to walkers and wheelchairs on the first floor only. The walk from the bottom of the driveway to the mansion's front door is a 200-yard incline.

You will check in with the Washington State Patrol at the bottom of the mansion driveway at least 10 minutes before your tour start time. If you are 18 or older, you are required to show photo ID. You must be accompanied by an adult if you are under 18.

These items are not allowed on the tour:

  • Backpacks
  • Strollers
  • Umbrellas
  • Gum
  • Food
  • Drinks

We will provide bins for you to store personal items. Purses are okay to carry during the tour.

All weapons are prohibited on the mansion grounds.

Tour schedule

Fall and winter tours begin at 10:30 a.m.

  • October 2 and 9
    Four tours per day
    Theme: Washington apples
  • November 6 and 13
    Four tours per day
    Theme: Salute to statehood
  • December 4 and 11
    Ten tours per day
    Theme: Winter in Washington
    Reservations for December tours will open at 8 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4.

How to sign up

You can make a reservation online.

  • Reservations are required at least 24 hours in advance and each tour has a limit of 30 people.
  • The full names of all attendees in your group must be submitted at the time you make the reservation.

Please note that public tours of the mansion are subject to change or cancellation based on current COVID protocols and guidelines.

About the mansion

The Governor's Mansion is the official residence of our governor. This redbrick, Georgian-style Executive Mansion has been home to Washington's governors since 1910. It has been fully restored and furnished with many antiques from the American Federal period (1790s-1830s).

For groups who have received prior approval to drive up to the mansion due to a special need, please submit the following vehicle information at least 24 hours prior to the tour:

  • Make
  • Model
  • Color
  • Year
  • License plate number 

Cancel or reschedule

If you are experiencing cold or flu symptoms, please be considerate of our guests and volunteers and cancel or reschedule your tour.
