Memorial Tours
Learn about the memorials honoring Washingtonians who have served in the armed forces or law enforcement.
About the tour
Visitors learn about sites on campus that honor Washingtonians in the military, the Red Cross, and law enforcement. It includes stops at:
- The Winged Victory Monument, dedicated on Memorial Day 1938, nearly 20 years after the end of World War I.
- The Medal of Honor Memorial, recognizing Washingtonians awarded the U.S. military’s highest honor.
- The World War II Memorial, honoring the nearly 6,000 Washingtonians who died in that conflict.
- The POW/MIA Memorial, honoring prisoners of war or those missing in action.
- The Vietnam Veterans Memorial, completed in 1987, listing the names of the nearly 1,100 Washington state men and women killed or missing in action.
- The Law Enforcement Memorial, honoring more than 275 Washington officers killed in the line of duty.
The tour lasts about an hour.
Tour schedule
Tours run by appointment based on staff availability, Monday through Friday.
How to sign up
Memorial tours must be requested at least two business days in advance and can accommodate up to 25 people. Email tours@des.wa.gov to schedule. Please specify which type of tour you are requesting and how many people you expect to attend.
