Washington's Capitol Campus is the seat of state government and a place where people come to experience history, civic life, public spaces, and beautiful grounds. The Department of Enterprise Services (DES) cares for campus buildings and grounds, preserving its historic landmarks and spaces for future generations.

DES maintains the 143-acre grounds including its five parks, three gardens, 25 office buildings, 18 monuments and artworks, over 100 different types of trees and natural features that make up its internationally-accredited arboretum, and the 260-acre Capitol Lake, which is being restored to an estuary.

More than 130,000 people visit Capitol Campus every year through events, tours, and educational programs. People come to experience its public spaces, engage in civic and free-speech activities, and support the work of state government.

Each year, DES supports more than 400 events with over 110,000 participants and provides in-person and online (virtual) civic and public education tours to over 30,000 people.

In partnership with Washington State Patrol and other agencies, DES helps keep Capitol Campus safe, secure, and welcoming to everyone who works, visits, and gathers here.
