The Department of Enterprise Services (DES) is the steward of the buildings and grounds of Capitol Campus. Our staff preserves and maintains the historic buildings, memorials and monuments, art, parks, gardens, and trees on campus.

DES is responsible for the operations and care of the 143-acre grounds, 260-acre Capitol Lake-Deschutes Estuary, five parks, three gardens, 25 office buildings, 18 monuments and artworks, over 100 trees, and more.

Capitol Campus hosts about 50,000 visitors each year, and our staff is committed to providing a safe environment and inspiring experiences for all who work and visit the seat of Washington state government.

DES provides public and civic education tours in person and virtually to hundreds of thousands of people each year. We also manage and support hundreds of events with over 400,000 participants annually, including protests and rallies. Additionally, we ensure safety throughout Capitol Campus by partnering with the Washington State Patrol to provide security.
