About the Tiffany Lights

The Legislative Building has the world's largest collection of Tiffany lights with over 400 pieces, all showcasing the artistry and craftsmanship of Tiffany Studios in New York.

Of this collection is the largest chandelier ever designed by Tiffany Studios. This huge chandelier, named Angels of Mercy, is 25 feet long, weighs 10,000 pounds, and is made of solid bronze with over 200 lightbulbs on it. A 101-foot chain holds the chandelier, which hangs 175 feet above the rotunda floor. The chandelier was transported from New York to Olympia by train and assembled on the rotunda floor in 1928.

Made of solid bronze and decorated with Roman-inspired designs, the chandelier is one of the first things you notice when you enter the rotunda. You’ll get the best view of it from the fourth floor of the Legislative Building.

Interesting fact: After the 2001 Nisqually Earthquake, the chandelier swung back and forth for two weeks due to its size and weight.

Tiffany Studios also created the Roman firepots located in the four corners of the rotunda.
