Story of the Tree
Several Amelanchier trees were planted in a channel along Sid Snyder Avenue Southwest to help filter stormwater on this street. In addition to filtering storm water, the channel provides habitat and food for local birds.
This tree is a cross between Amelanchier arborea and Amelanchier laevis species. In the spring, it has creamy white flowers in clusters in the spring. In the fall, its leaves turn red, yellow, and orange before they drop.
