Plan your visit to the cherry blossoms
To see if the trees are in bloom, check our webpage.
Come visit Capitol Campus' iconic cherry trees.
To help you time your visit, a new cherry blossoms webpage features "bloom watch" photos of the campus' two types of flowering cherry trees. The Yoshino cherry trees should reach peak bloom within days. The Kwanzan cherry trees bloom in mid-April or early May.
Each tree’s branches move through the season in four states: dormant, budding, blooming, and leafing. The trees are a popular springtime attraction, especially for tourists and photographers.
When visiting the trees, please keep the following in mind:
-
Don't hurt the trees by climbing them or breaking off blossoming branches. The blooms will fade quickly, but the damage is lasting. Broken limbs stress the trees and present a pathway for disease, shortening their lifespans.
