Marathon weekend, Memorial Day ceremonies to bring crowds

​The Vietnam Veterans Memorial will be the site of the Olympia Thunder Run event on Memorial Day.

Events this weekend through Memorial Day will increase foot traffic and close roadways on Capitol Campus.

Capital City Marathon

Capital City Marathon, a road race event

Where

Races begin and end at Sylvester Park.

When

Saturday, May 16 – Sunday, May 17

Impact

Washington Street will be closed between Sylvester Park and the Old Capitol Building.

Memorial Day Ceremony

What

Memorial Day Ceremony, sponsored by the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs

Where

Legislative Building rotunda

When

Monday, May 25, 10:30 a.m. – noon.

Impact

The rotunda will be closed for the event. Morning tours of the building are cancelled.

Olympia Thunder Run

What

Olympia Thunder Run, a Memorial Day motorcycle ride to the Capitol

Where

West Campus, Vietnam Veterans Memorial

When

Monday, May 25. Event takes place 12:20 - 1 p.m.

Impact

South Diagonal closed 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. Expect occasional noise from loud motorcycles.
