DES prepares Capitol Campus for possible snow

Weather forecasts indicate cold temperatures and possible snow Saturday, Feb. 1, through Wednesday, Feb. 5.
The Department of Enterprise Services (DES) is preparing for possible snowy weather in the following ways:
- Crews have reserved snow removal equipment.
- Crews are preparing equipment to remove snow and ice from sidewalks and streets.
- Ice-melting materials are ready at locations across Capitol Campus, and at DES-owned offsite facilities.
- Staff are on call and reporting to work earlier than normal, as needed, to address concerns.
If you spot an issue or area of concern, please immediately contact the Work Management Center at 360-725-0000. We will work to mitigate building and campus concerns as they are identified.
If you work on the Capitol Campus and have questions about delayed worktimes at your agency, please follow your agency’s protocols for inclement weather.
Current Impacts
Heating systems
Some DES-managed facilities are experiencing issues with aging HVAC systems. DES staff are addressing these situations as they arise. Please contact the Work Management Center if your office’s heating system isn’t meeting your expectations.
Tivoli Fountain
To prevent damage to the water lines and seals, staff have turned off and drained Tivoli Fountain.
Potential Impacts
We are prepared to temporarily close garage entrances and parking lot ramps if conditions make these areas unsafe.
If we can’t effectively remove ice or snow from the pedestrian walkway over Capitol Way, we'll close the walkway. The DES shuttle is available to transport drivers who park in Plaza Garage. Find more information about the shuttle.
We’ll provide more information if closures become necessary.
