Legislative Building Rotunda, public spaces to close for setup of seasonal display

Expect closures inside and around the Legislative Building as the work happens.

What:

Crews are placing, lighting, and decorating three large noble fir trees in preparation for the seasonal display in the Legislative Building’s Rotunda.

When:

All day Tuesday, Dec. 3, starting at 7 a.m.

Impacts:

  • Expect restrictions to parking and public spaces inside and outside the Legislative Building.
  • DES will close a portion of the Flag Circle to parking, directly in front of the North Steps.
  • DES will close the Rotunda to stand up and decorate the trees.
  • Other spaces closed or restricted throughout the day include the North Porch between the steps and building entrance, the North Lobby, and the 3rd and 4th floor mezzanines.

The three trees each stand more than 17 feet tall. They’ll adorn the Rotunda until the end of the month. A formal lighting ceremony, organized by the Association of Washington Business, takes place at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6.
